So I seized and turned green both objective hexes. But the game keeps going. I don't really know what I am supposed to do next. Is there an end game trigger or is this like a sandbox mode?

scenario time and remaining force are factors for ending each battles. don't worry ,keep your victory points and keep your force safe and don't sensitive about game victory announcement ( that is up to you! it is not popular strategy games which each victory bring you to next level).

So you are in a meeting engagement and race in to seize your objectives.
Well done so far, but not even half the job.
Now you have to hold the objective and defend against Opfor attack. You can still lose the fight, objectives are often very unsuitable as defensive positions.

You can also win Total Victory in smaller scenarios without ever seizing the objectives. I like take positions overwatching the objectives, and wipe out Opfor as he takes them. Fun!

A good rule of thumb is to spend all of the points you allotted to your side. Unused points goes to victory points and can lead to situations where almost all units are killed but clock is still ticking.

So it sounds like there is an actual victory announcement. I was playing one of the premade scenarios as a first time run through.

At the top centre of the screen, you will see the faction flags with a green bar for your side and a red bar for Opfor.
These bars are proportional in length to each side's victory points.
The bars shorten with each loss.
The battle ends when one of these bars reduces to zero.
Watch the bars to guage your status.
