Why a Soviet loss ?

Hi,
a friend asked me why a Soviet loss in this game and I wasn't sure as British forces are at 29% of starting.
I understand that VP+enemy losses = 58% is not enough but why not the sudden death for the Brits ?
And there's still time to go ...
Thank you.

The other point of view:

A quick lookover shows a stop of the fight on British sudden death <30% force remaining. At that point of the fight "ending", the VP ratio placed it at a marginal loss for the Soviets. Sudden death of a force is not an automatic loss for that side. The sudden death calculation does look at VP locations and remaining force dispositions when awarding VP locations for a final score. Always open to ideas and discussion on the mechanics. The Soviets appear to have a decent force size left (conditions unknown for readiness, ammo, etc) that could reorganize and hit the area again later or possibly opened enough of an opening for a follow-on force to punch through.

Thanks for this analysis and answer.

Hence the frustration of the Soviet player (ie my friend) in this game ...

It still comes down to red being down almost 50 and I bet pretty spent on ammo and readiness. Even though there are numbers, their combat effectiveness is low. It is tough for the attacker to preserve force and control the objectives. Very close to a Contested result.

I'm the british player in this game and I think I managed to score the meager win because while I dropped under 30% of my start force I had been saving about half of my tank units since the beginning of the battle (high vp worth right?) and I was just starting a counteroffensive with said tanks along with fresh infantry that I was also keeping as reserve. They were all at 90/100% ready with high morale and full ammo stock. The sudden death kicked in immediatly after the russian player managed to kill 3(!) chieftain tanks in a single volley. This was not a rule set by me but by the soviet player and personally I would have continued the game had I been given the choice.
Admittedly, after I could see the units that soviet side had left I suspect that the loss couldve been turned into a victory because we had around 5 in game hours to go and my final offensive was only around half the amount of troops that the opponent had.
So yeah, totally kicked his ass.
