Is there anyway to edit a save game in the editor so that I can change destroyer ASW values?

Do I need to convert any files?

Is there a limit to what you can edit in a savegame?

Is that a "No you cannot edit savegames or change unit values partway through a game,"

Or

"Shame on you for thinking about it?"

I'm afraid not, either investing heavily in research or editing a campaign in the Editor and starting a new game are the options open to you.

Shame, I just bought this game after having spent 100's of hours CEAW "Commander:Europe at War." I prefer the unit balance and combat on that game and was hoping to bring it to this game as it is boringly difficult where it stands.

I think you will find SC3 to be easy to learn and hard to master against a PBEM opponent. If you peruse the forum you will see that there is a Hugh amount of After Action Reports, lots of MODS, a long playing tournament, and an active interest improving the game.

The developers are extremely active in taking and often implementing user suggestions.

Hope you will learn the game and start playing in the tournament.

I spent much less time on CEaW before giving up on it and turning to SC3. For me, it was a great decision, one of the best of my life. So it seems we are at different positions [:)]

I would suggest politely to give up on the save file and start over after making the changes you desire. I've been 'modding' a game file for over two years and it's very rewarding, it only takes about ten days to run thru an entire game and in order to see how changes pan out usually takes much less. CEaW did have a few things that are missed in SC3, but with CEaW you couldn't make changes and there was no computer opponent, plus Hubert and Bill are gold and platinum to work with, so in my opinion it's a no brainer to stick with SC3.
