Weapon Systems upgrade levels

I think that the infantry weapons with a maximum level of 2 is not consistent with the history.
In 1944, automatic weapons and AT rockets allowed a firepower much higher than that of 1942.
Is it possible to increase the upgrade levels of certain armaments?
In my example, I've increased the research limit for infantry weapons from 2 to 3, using the editor function, but then, in the game, although the same research function allows to increase that level (up to 3), the units don't accept it and therefore don't undergo variations in combat values.
How does the increase in values related to research work?
Are they moddable?

Yes it is possible, I have done it. Not knowing what changes you made exactly, I can not tell you what to do.

Hi rob89
The units themselves have a limit that is set independently of the maximum level that can be researched.
To amend this in your campaign, in the Editor go to Campaign -> Edit Country Data -> Research
Then click on Advanced in the bottom right, then Upgrades
You'll then see that every unit type has listed against it upto 3 research categories, along with its' Max Level.
Change the ones you want to change, for the Majors you want to change.
This will automatically work for their Minors too.
Save any changes to your custom campaign... and it should now work! [:)]

But that doesn't tell us what steps you took, so we don't know where to stear you [unless we type out all of the steps you need to take, as Bill just did].

One more question [:)]
I note that for some type of units (for ex. 'fighters') there is, in addition to the three editable options, a long list of other weapons systems with a flag labelled 'select as replacement'
What does it means ?

You can pick and chose from the list [center screen] which upgrades will apply for each unit type [left screen]. All of it is fully modifiable. As you can see in this shot, I have Corps eligible for only one Upgrade [Infantry] seen at the top of the screen.

It works to modify the types of upgrades for each unit's type.
So it is possible, if desired, to add the ATG to all the infantry units, instead of other less useful upgrades ... great function [;)]
