Hi PvtBenjamin,

We are in the process of finalizing v1.16 and in order to complete that and ensure minimal interruptions with existing games being played, v1.15.01 is a mini update that players will be required to update to first.

There should be more official info released shortly.

I have a problem with 1.15.01: saving a game is no longer possible. The game crashes. The same error occurs when a new round starts. Very sad. Please fix it soon.

ERROR log:

Another error message appears when loading a saved game (if played in Win7 compatibility mode):

FAILED(draw_war_map_on_war_map_surface): Segmentation violation

I played a custom (self made) scenario.

Hi Franky513,

Just a quick question, had you previously installed the v1.16 Beta? If so the v1.15.01 update is not compatible with that and it would be advised to not install the v1.15.01 mini update and to just wait until the official v1.16 version is released in a little while.

Please let me know,
Hubert

Hi chrDan76,

Can you be more specific as to what the issue is? Error messages etc.?

Thanks,
Hubert

Hello,

I have just updated the game from v. 1.15 to v. 1.15.01, since otherwise PBEM would not let me in.
After updating, it seems that 1.15 is incompatible with this minor upgrade (at least PBEM shows other players marked in red)
The good news is that I was able to load previously saved games.

I can load my opponents turn. Then after choosing to watch the replay. Short before my turn should begin.
Error message:
Failed(draw_war_map_on_war_map_surface): segmentation violation.
Happens on every game on pbem++

Hubert

So updating to v1.15.01 is required before updating to v1.16?
If so, what is meant by this:

Can we still just wait for v1.16 or will v1.15 still be needed first?

Thanks,

C

PBEM++ games in progress should be able to continue, but if there are open challenges that were started under v1.15 then yes, those would be considered incompatible and will be indicated in RED as being invalid to join as you can only join under the same version you are currently playing.

Essentially a new challenge under v1.15.01 will be the only open challenges that a player can currently join once the upgrade to v1.15.01 has been implemented.

Thank you for the report and I believe I know what the issue is and my apologies. This will quickly be corrected.

Hi Christolos,

Apologies for the confusion.

If you've updated to v1.16 Beta then best to simply wait for the official v1.16 update as that should be released in a little while.

If you haven't updated to the v1.16 Beta, and are currently playing PBEM++ games, then updating to v1.15.01 will be required before updating to the official v1.16 release. The reason for this is that the v1.16 Beta is only for non PBEM++ players, i.e. if they wanted to try it out, and current saves and campaigns under v1.16 Beta will not be compatible with v1.15.01, as v1.15.01 is still set under the older code base, whereas v1.16 and the v1.16 Beta breaks older games and campaigns as there have been significant changes to the data structures.

If you are a PBEM++ player, then you haven't updated to the v1.16 Beta, and so updating to v1.15.01 is currently required to continue playing your PBEM++ games before we transition to the official v1.16 update. v1.15.01 is a mini update that will allow players to continue their existing PBEM++ games even after v1.16 is officially released.

Hopefully this makes sense,
Hubert

I`m a non PBEM player. So if I`m starting with a clean WiE v1.0 installation do I then have to install v1.15.01 prior to the official 1.16?
Or is 1.16 all I need?

If you are a non PBEM++ player then you can do a clean install of v1.0, update to v1.15, and simply wait for the official v1.16 update once it is ready, thereby skipping v1.15.01.

No. I play the regular steam version. Previously installed was 1.15. After the automatic update to 1.15.01, my old saved games don't work any more.

For a Steam player, this is unfortunately not possible. Steam automatically updates the game to 1.15.01. There is no chance for a roll-back, since the Matrix patches don't work with the Steam Version. Could you please provide the 1.15 version of sc3.exe for download? Thanks!

I know I'm out of line and I got no right saying this, but it just pisses me off. Don't put it on Matrix or SC3, put it on yourself for using a third party garbage application [steam] that bilks us all out of our most valuable assets - Matrix and Developers. Please everyone stop using this trash software that frankly makes the user look like a child with no comprehension [certainly not the type that is expected in playing Historical Simulations].

Don't mean to offend anyone, but think for yourself, use reason, and be reasonable.

We should have a fix ready soon, and I'll be honest this error is on me as there was a /LARGEADDRESSAWARE switch that was not enabled for this particular EXE to handle players playing at higher resolutions. The newer versions of the game EXE, for both War in Europe and World at War, are developed with a new development environment and this switch is automated so no chance to miss this again in the future.
