So, I have an interesting problem which is different from the rest of the problems on this forum. (And the internet in general.) So, I used to be able to play the game just fine since I bought it about a couple weeks ago, then a few days ago, I can no longer start it. The launcher does not launch the game, however, when I press the other buttons (Modding Guide, Support, Store, etc) it does launch. I already attempted to run the game as administrator, and uninstalled and reinstalled, but still no solution. Please help me.

You should have an icon on your desktop for Distant Worlds Universe..... have you tried double clicking the icon? If so do you get in?

If the Distant Worlds menu does not appear after a few minutes, go to Documents\My Games\Distant Worlds Universe and look for any error messages in DW_CrashDump.txt

If no errors show reset Distant Worlds Universe by removing defaultOptions from the same folder Documents\My Games\Distant Worlds Universe...... this takes all settings back to default.

See if that gets you in.

Wait it did not send the text.

In my Documents/My Games/ there is not a folder for DW:U.

I launch the game through the taskbar as I have it pinned there.

I just needed to update my game. It's fixed.

Edit: It launched that one time but it is not launching again. I will probably contact support and if that doesn't work just eat the costs.

Is it a game purchased via Steam or something you purchased via GOG which seems to be a different setup?

No I bought the disc version and I just use it normally.

I would probably uninstall the game and instead of reinstalling in the default location install it into a folder Distant Worlds Universe on the c drive eg C:\Distant Worlds Universe

The when you want to play go to that folder and double click DistantWorlds.exe in the folder.

If you get in to the game don't install any mods until you know the game works every time.

Also......

Ensure that you have Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer both installed and enabled. You can check these at:

Control Panel > Programs and Features > Windows Features > Media Features > Windows Media Player
Control Panel > Programs and Features > Windows Features > Internet Explorer 11
