AE only a Addon?

Hey,
the information at the matrixshop calls the AE standalone addon but I am a little confused. Are War in the Pacific and the AE different games or is the AE the maingame with new features?
Do I need both games to play all the content or is the AE the complete game and I need only this editon? [X(]

AE is a complete game. WitP is more or less the 'old version' of the same content.

I can attest and affirm that long-term play of WiTP:AE *is* a trial. And a tribulation.

Never having played WITP, my understanding is that WITP is the AC-47 while WITP-AE is the AC-130.
