B52s can't hit the runways at Reykavik.

I'm playing the "Mighty O" scenario. I have conducted a reasonably successful SEAD patrol and took out search radars and SAM sites. None of my B52s successfully hit or damaged the runway from 35000 feet. Do I have to have these Bombers come in at a much lower altitude? Looked like all the bombs impacted in a tight grouping.

I was surprised no damage was done.

Hey Darren,
I know it is a bit old but yeah. they have to be flying low. Therefore vulnerable to Shilka and Strella.

High altitude = accuracy goes to hell. Runways offer quite a bit of leeway downrange, but cross-range the precision required is significant.

Thanks for the replies, I was pretty much brand new to CMANO when I wrote this! I figured it out since.

Another tip for attacking runway in the age of iron bomb, is to make sure your ingress route matches the runway oreintation.

For example, one of the runway at Reykjavik Airport is 01/19. So you can send the B-52s from south to north, attacking at 10 degree.

Does CMANO actually model runway orientation? I thought it was a "squared" unit.

Yes, it does. It's typically a long rectangle. Usually you want to hit it at a angle so that at least some of the bombs will probably connect.
