Suggestion for devs - national victory conditions

Hi Devs,

I'm enjoying a 1939 campaign which I started as the German. Pretty soon it was clear Rommel couldn't trust those Italians to do the right thing, so I interfered with Italy's moves. Then it got annoying when I made the mistake of leaving APs and the Italians undid my moves etc. So I took over from the AI.

Then as things developed further I could see that to win I must interfere and then take over from the Japanese as well.

So, my suggestion is, why not give the individual nations their own victory conditions? As it is, if you want to register a victory, you have to take over the entire axis or allied side eventually. This is totally unrealistic, especially in the case of the Axis. I'm only suggesting this as an option, the current victory conditions are great if we are playing the entire bloc....

Interesting suggestion.

On the surface I think this would be easier for the Axis as there are only three of them.

One potential pitfall is that Victory Conditions end the game, so would one want the game to end when one of the Majors achieves its goal but the others haven't - or are surrendered?

I would think the game would continue until either the overall victory conditions were met or the game finished as a draw. And then the national objectives would be checked.

It's a really nice idea that you can play at a national level, but becomes obviously flawed as time goes on and you realise you can't leave it to the AI to capture its victory locations. As the German am I seriously expected to achieve Japan's objectives in the Pacific when it's clearly of no interest to Germany either way?
