The Next SP:WAW-CON

gmenfan...a sticky, if you please?
Okay, SP:WAW-CON 2003 was a fun trip for all who attended, but now we need to think about our next trip. Those of us who attended took a little vote and came up with the idea of the Patton Museum at Fort Knox, Kentucky. We didn't discuss a date, except that we'd like it to be either later this year (possibly around Veteran's Day) or in May of next year. If it's later this year I think that would make it SP:WAW-CON 2003.5, or SP:WAW-CON Mk1 Mod B perhaps.
What do the rest of you folks think? If we want to get maximum attendance (and we surely do!), it doesn't hurt to start planning early.
Give us your ideas for dates and alternate locations and we'll kick it around some.
I like the idea...

a bit more centralized (for those of us in the US that is!)...and if it's the 2004 trip, then that gives everyone more than enough time to plan ahead.

2004 gets my vote too. And i will definatly be there. Great time this year for my wife and me too. Thanx bernie and jess for the disks. Only thing was i felt bad bout not offering some thing for them. Was too happy at the time to think about that. Just got in the door and couldnt wait to get on the net.

That's three votes for '04 so far. I'm leaning that way myself.
As for the disks, and "not offering something for them", you're wrong... You'd already offered us your friendship and company, what more could we have asked for?.

If you're making it 04, I'm putting all my effort into making it.
I don't know 'bout the size of the Patton museum in KY, but are you considering a full weekend arrangement? That'd serve me well, wanna make the most of the trip.

There should be, considering it's Fort Knox
How about June???
June sounds good to me, but I'm self-employed and single, I can go anytime. What's the rest of the gang say?
oh... and I am bringing the titty dancers with me this time!;)

Do I dare ask...?

Fort Knox--Patton Museum?

I didn't get to make the first trip, but some of you may remember I tried to get a fan meeting together a couple of years back. Un fortunately, the events of 9/11/01 brought it to a screeching halt. I'm just 12 mi outside of Charleston WV, so I'd do my best to make a May or June 04 gathering in Kentucky. If you can get Wild Bill to make it, then count me in. I've been trying to meet the Kunel for quite a while, and I haven't had a decent vacation in years. A weekend get-together would be nice. As for the dancers, ahem, do we have to supply our own pasties?

Ft. Knox isn't in a dry county, is it? I'll bring a well-stocked cooler along, just in case.

I explored the site, and what I saw looks good, but they don't go into much detail about what is in their collection. I'd like to know more about the place, and see some more photos, before I'll commit to it.

Hello All...new to forum. I am in Army (19 yrs now) and have been to both Aberdeen and Knox. Patton Museum is great, a good site to visit. The collection there is in outstanding condition and kept mostly inside (not as big as Aberdeen but much higher quality). They have some very interesting pieces, eg, Panther II, King Tiger (abandoned in Ardennes during Bulge) that has entire left side of armor cut off and replaced with plexiglass so you can view interior, plus many US pieces (inside and scattered around post) These include an Easy 8 (outside PX I think) plus several super heavy US tanks (one of a kinds) that were being developed during late 40's early 50's. Add to this all the Patton memorabilia and Gold repository (no tours lol) and you'll be sure to enjoy. One thing to consider, Knox is located in a dry county, no booze served off post (can't tell I'm an old soldier huh?). A wet county is about a half hour away toward Louisville (60 to 90 minutes away), so this might impact where you want to stay. I have pics I can scan if anyone is interested, and if I think of anything else (or you have specific questions) email me or post here

I think we're all agreed this will be a 2004 event. Now we just need to set a specific date and start arranging for discounts (hotel, admission, other local attractions, etc.)

Hey Bernie, everyone wanted a front view of the members of the first SPWAW-Con. In those pictures I sent you there is one of the group in front of the Honey.
I have no idea how to post pics, so would you do it for me? Thanks...

Ah White Rook, my good friend. Wouldn't be the same without you! I really hope you can attend. I think we would all have a lot of fun. I certainly enjoyed the first one.
Loving greetings to the family!
That flamethrower still working?

I've tried Bill, but it's not working for me. The file size is okay (only 75k), but it uploads, then I get a blank white screen, and nothing, the message (and attachment) never gets posted. I've had this problem since I posted the other pictures from Aberdeen. Maybe I exceeded some kind of personal "limit" on the Matrix server? I asked gmenfan about it when it first happened, but he didn't have any answers.
