If I have Spain as an ally do I still need to capture Malta for supply issues?

On another point, playing a single player game.
Captured Leningrad, Murmansk, North Africa, all Middle East except Saudi Arabia but it's summer 1943. Allies have landed in France and moving a lot of units toward the Western wall, getting near Paris!!

What do I do?

1. Yes. If you take out Gibraltar then the UK will suffer similar effects but it will not alleviate your problems generated by Malta.

2. Probably should have countered the problem immediately. Operating HQ or 2, a couple tanks and a boatload of air and wiped out the Wallies before they got too established.

Also if possible use your strategic bombers in France to lower port supply so the Allies cant reinforce.
