Supply question

Why is Feng HQ shown here at supply 1? The mouseover shows Supply: 1 (5) in gray, Action Pts: 2/3. It is on a supply 5 hex.

Hi

I'm not sure how that hex could be a supply 5 hex to Feng, as Paotow is in Japanese hands and the nearest Chinese resource is therefore Ningsia which only has a maximum supply value of 5.

It may be that the Communist Chinese are distorting things, because although their territory is nearby, they aren't cooperative and won't supply Feng, so it may be that which is raising this question?

Hi MarshalNay,

This might just be a confusion on what the supply map is showing you when you use either the 'S' key or the button to show the supply map from the Operational Action buttons in the bottom middle of the screen. Essentially this map displays the supply that is available to units for that turn, i.e. a supply distribution map, and not necessarily the supply the HQ would be receiving at that hex.

Likely the supply is as reported for the HQ, a supply value of 1, but then the HQ in turn will be distributing 5 supply to other units around it, and thus the 5 showing on the supply map where the HQ is located.

Hopefully this makes sense,
Hubert

So the mouseover is showing the supply delivered to/by the HQ as 5, but the supply coming into the HQ's hex as 1?
If so what is the effective supply level of the HQ should it be in combat, 5 or 1?

A more basic question is what is reducing the HQ supply value to 1? It's four hexes by road from the nearest resource Ningsia, plus a river crossing. Shouldn't it's incoming supply be 0?

Thanks for the replies.

Hard to say why the HQ is only getting 1 without seeing more of the map and the relative strengths of the surrounding Chinese supply resources.

You are probably correct in that it is not likely from Ningsia considering the position of the HQ, perhaps Yanku?

Yanku as supply source explains it, thanks!

So enemy ZOC apparently does not block supply line?

It doesn't block it, but the Japanese advance does reduce any supply the HQ would get from that direction because there isn't a clear route via the roads.
