One thing I haven't been able to figure out is how can I easily see from the map view how much unit strength, or even how many units I have in a hex.

It seems like when I'm in map view, I only see the current top unit in every hex. When I click on it, I can cycle through the units or see how deep the stack is looking at the unit info dialog in the upper right hand corner but it's hard to get sort of a bird's eye view of where my front is over defended and under defended.

Is there an option to see stack depth or total combat power in each cell somehow from the map without having to click on each cell?

Yes, you have to go to players preferences and click on advance stacking, you can select multiple options including attack stack and defense stack totals. Away from PC but that is essentially it.

Right click an empty spot on that upper right dialog and it will lay them out in nice neat little rows.

In the 'button box' in the lower right click on the unit tab and in that tab click on the button with the bowtie (directly above the question mark) to cycle through the different unit displays.

Thanks everyone! Can't wait to try out all of these tonight. This has been sort of the 'missing link' to my ability to see what is going on in the battle.

Note that if you set the Advanced Player Settings you'll have to reset that for every scenario. By default each new playing of a scenario resets this to the basic (attack and defend) so if you want the advanced settings you'll have to reset then for each scenario you play.

Used all of the tips! Was really nice to be able to see the total strength of the fronts and the stack contents in one view. Thanks again all!
