Hi - I have installed Flashpoint Campaigns on a Windows 10/64 bit machine. It is an up to date installation with all recent updates. I have also updated Flashpoint Campaigns to Version 2.0.14. I do NOT use Steam; all other Matrix games on my computer do work the normal way.

I had a lot of fun playing this game, but since a short while I am no longer able to start the game, neither from menu nor directly when trying to run the program file itself. The program will provide the start screen with the music playing - but that's it. At this point software refuses to go any further.

Has anyone an idea how to get the software back running again? Thank you very much.

Frank, sounds like you have been playing the game okay and then suddenly it no longer wants to work. When you start the game are you seeing the opening animations and then going to the main menu? What happens or doesn't in the main menu? Does the game freeze at that point and none of the buttons work? Can you get into any of the other screens from the main menu? On the computer side of things, have you had any changes to the computer before this crash bug appeared? Any OS updates? New hardware added to the system?

Hi - sorry for the late answer, I had to do some work otherwise …

To answer your questions: Windows 10 is getting updated by WindowsUpdate regularly, so the OS definitely is not the same as it was at the time, I last played Flashpoint. Again, all other games from Matrix/Slitherine which I won still run perfect.

Regarding Flashpoint: I can start the game from the menu. It ends with the startup screen and the intro music playing. (I tried to include a screeenshot, but failed … no idea how to paste an image here …) Despite: the game remains permanent on this screen with the music playing. And no matter what I do, like for example clicking somewhere, pressing the ESC-key, oder trying to select any option from the menu, another windows opens up telling me, that FPRS.exe ist not answering - leaving me with the options to end the application or to wait for the program to answer.

I already tried to re-install the latest release of the game, but that did not have any change at all …

Maybe you have got an idea …

Okay, you are freezing at the splash screen. My first thought was you might be hanging on the animations, but you are past those. Now we have to go after the weird stuff. Have you plugged in any new items not there before when playing the game? Controllers, printer, anything new really? Have you tried and reinstallation or clean up the redistribute libraries used by the game?

Frank - this might sound crazy but we had a situation years ago where having a HP printer plugged into a USB port caused a problem with one of the game components initializing. I forget the exact details but if you could temporarily unplug all USB devices before starting the game and letting us know what happens, that would help!

Another possibility is that it is including for a particular folder or file and is not finding it, and the exception handling is not yet invoked. To confirm, is this a fresh non-Steam install via the Matrix installer? Just copying files directly without doing the official installer will also sometimes cause glitches.
