Basic Starter(ish) Scenario List (stock) for PBEM

Okay here is a list of stock scenario's that may be good for new or experienced players wanting a smaller turn count and less then 300 units per side (many of these are under 200 and a lot are 100 and under).

This list is based on my idea, experience (over the last 20 years or so) and interpretation of complexity based on a combination of what the game reports as complexity, plus a generally smaller map size and lower count of units and the number of turns being under 40 (most are 15 to 30 turns).

The sweet just keeps growing!!

I have never really understood what "scenario complexity" involves ...

if you would, please explain like we're five, what means (in a nutshell) "scenario complexity"?

Thanks tons!!!

See post #6 in the above thread.

Thank you!! For the curious, I quote:

"Complexity is calculated from a scaled product of the Total Units, Total Turns, Total Events, and Total Map Boundaries."

IOW: Algebra, my sworn enemy :)

Just out of curiosity,
whats the scale?

What difference does it make? They're relative values.

Total Units, Total Turns, Total Events, and Total Map Boundaries

By scaled I expect he means that multiplying four unrelated numbers together yields a fifth number that can be anywhere on a scale from 0.01 to something over 20M. Depending on where the number falls on the scale, it’s supposed to provide information about the scenario that potential players can use as a filter. Scaled might also mean that the four numbers have been multiplied by factors in an attempt to give them equal weighting. That would explain why complexity values are carried out to two decimal places.

As an example of why this system doesn’t work, take a complexity value of 5000. What does it tell you about the number of units, or total turns, or events or the map boundaries? Tells me nothing and I suspect that this also true with you.

I’ve petitioned for a system that provides a meaningful number, but the TOAW crew (mostly Ralph I’ve been told) has resisted the change.

They are all related to the size of the scenario.

Really helpful, saves a lot of loading up the scenario to have a look at it.
