I upgraded to new 1.12 beta.

I have not opened any old games.

Is it possible to revert back since I've not yet done any turns.?

And how long till hotfix?

Hotifx is on the way. In manually installed game (not Steam, not GOG) you have to reinstall.

I feared something like this would happen. With the new rules, the Soviets can get away with defending such key hexes with very weak units without any negative effects. This needs to change.

Yes I agree. A blanket no retreat rule is asking for trouble with the wite combat system.
An alternative might be to increase the odds required for a retreat from 2:1 to 3:1 or 4:1 for units defending level 4 or higher forts.

reinstall whole game and then the prior latest beta?

r just reinstall the prior latest beta?

do not forget to backup your saves, just in case the uninstaller deletes them
