Playing as the Russians via PBEM the Russian side on the first turn has the dreaded orange band on the units causing all the units not able to move. It is happening mostly through the summer of 41 so the Axis player just moves through the holes and there is nothing the Russian player can do.
Has anyone who has played this scenario had the same problem?

I heard that the Russian command faced the same problem back in the summer of 41…
Easy fix however… change side…

I'm not sure it's historical if no units can be moved by the Russian player. Even the ones way back behind the lines.

This is utterly false. Read Barbarossa Derailed, David Glantz.

Yes, very good book. His other books are also good.

I contacted the scenario designer and he stated is was designed to freeze the Russian units on the first turn and then gradually get better so I'm playing the Russians again. My opponent ran all over me in the last game. The problem I had was not enough units. I had the squads and equipment but no units to put them in.

It's a great little scenario without the thousands of counters to move around. I really like the programmed objectives that the Axis have to complete over a certain number of turns or the Russians get more stuff.

If anyone has played the Russian side in this scenario feel free to advise me.
