Training and the ability to be seen

I played a daytime scenario today with good weather, early Autumn. The bad guys were 1975 Americans with a M113 mechanized infantry platoon and a M60A2 platoon plus a dismounted scout section.. They were on the defense but not dug in. Just to see what would happen, I upped their training and morale to 85%. I had two companies of T-62s md 1975 and a Company of BMP-1 mounted infantry (Soviet). I had a BMP-1 recon section. My forces training/morale were not modified

Wow, were the Americans hard to find. IO would take losses and not even a gun flash would show up. I only spotted on tank and killed it but the others were never found. The enemy mech infantry was not found until I was within 500 meters or so of their positions. And most of their positions were in the open.

Did increasing their training make them harder to spot? I don't have an issue with it but if so it is a good tool for scenario design.

I think there is an update coming soon that makes infantry that have fired or are firing at you easier to see...

I read that in the notes on the upcoming update and DLC. I was surprised though, how much a 10% increase in training made a unit harder to spot even when it fired.

I found a while back that you can greatly influence a scenario by how you set the training values. I have lost all my notes now but roughly off top of my head, plus values over about 20 did not make much difference, but when you start using minus values, then things get interesting.

My detailed notes and how it effects a scenario are missing which I deemed from experimentation and the only notes for morale that I have show that:-

+10 - +100 = Motivated
-10 - +9 = confident
-20 = Nervous
-30 Panicked
-40 Panicked
-50 Panicked
-60 - -100 Broken

(In fact, I cannot make much sense of my scribbling.)

From that, you can see that from +10 - +100 it is just motivated, so if a unit has say 80% motivation, a lot has to happen to drop it to becoming confident and nervous

I have lost my training value notes.

You can create a scenario where the defenders with a higher training value and morale are vastly outnumbered and just as they are about to be wiped out, due to the amount of casualties that the defenders have inflicted on the attackers, they just collapse eventually.

But, I am still presuming these levels have not altered in any updates and remain the same.

Yes, we will have the next official update coming out soon, and it has a big impact in the spotting rules.

The training value does have some effect in how well a unit can spot and avoid being spotted.
