Campaign for N. Africa N41-43 Hellen v. PO

I thought I would try Bob Cross’s “Campaign for North Africa: N41-43” against Elmer Po.

I put Elmer on “strong” with the PO “cheat” set to +2.
Here is the map around Hell Fire Pass at the beginning of the game.

This scene lasts about 120 turns.

I am going to set units to invisible while Elmer moves,
not going to watch to get the feel of “strange adventure” in the desert.

Ok, well it took Elmer about 45 seconds to kick my ass.

I'm going to have to step up my game in this one.

Many of my units are in reorganize status
and half the Fleet is limping back to port in flames

Elmer has had his chance. This is map as of CW T3 to move.

On Elmer's turn 2, it took him all of 60 seconds to kick my ass.

Progress!

I had tried to send some of 7th Armored to help out Tobruk
b/c I managed to break through the siege there by a hex or two.

Now I'm back to square one ... and more units reorganizing.

Just about done w/ my turn 3.

Most of 7th AD is almost to Tobruk;
4th AD is trying to get there.

Elmer has his Pavia Division SW there of 4th AD...
everyone else is fighting it out over the Hell Fire Pass.

The 4th Armopred seems to be in a bad position, isn't it?

It sure is. Keeps getting into reorganizing status a
and now Elmer is going after it.

Seems like both of us are trying to get Tobruk once and for all.
Here is at beginning of CW T5

Elmer is truly giving me a beat down in this one.

NZ Division is getting slaughtered now.

Half of 4th AD has been routed.

7th AD can't seem to get to Tobruk ... Poles are holding, though.

Almost ready to resolve combat @ CW turn 6.

Finally got 7th Armored near Tobruk; I managed to

wiggle the 1st SA almost into Tobruk;

Elmer left some holes and I got into Bardia and past the Hell Fire Pass
time to lay down some arty over that escarpment.

Payback time for Elmer.

Elmer strikes Tobruk and then disappears into the desert.

Poles say, “Do widzenia!” and hop freighters out to sea.

7th AD is back to reorganizing.

Time to move up the 8th Army.

Server was down this a.m. so I couldn't do my FitE 5 move.
So I finished my CfNA move.
I think I finally got Elmer under control.
Tobruk is almost liberated and Bardia is well in hand.

But Elmer was hiding in the desert….snuck up out the sand

Back to Tobruk!

That was a tough 10 turns, but 1st AD has reached Tobruk

Thanks to the 4th Indian Div. mostly

Time to repair the RR all the way to Tobruk,
clean up what's left in the "parallelogram" area,
then its on to Benghazi! Woo - hoo!

CW T12 now, getting ready to plan combats
had to pull 4th Indian back to Bardia / Sollum area

because Elmer keeps punching through

you can see how thinly stretched is the guards
all along that railroad that needs fixing
I think Elmer’s got a bunch of Germans hiding there in the sand.

Lol.

A long line to defend, but it seems you have plenty of units.

Not any more. Elmer's on the war path again.

Guess I'll have to evacuate Bardia. Need more units.

Regrouped, time to plan battles now.

Shew!! Barely held on to Bardia.

Let's see what Elmer does his next go.
I hope he is running out of surprises.

@ CW16: Elmer may have shot his bolt.
At least for now.

Bardia is now secured, many Germans captured.
time to build that railroad again.
THEN it will be time to move on to Benghazi and beyond.
