hi,

when I drop paratroops it loses its attachment to the HQ. is there something I didn't understand to keep the attachment to the HQ?

For a unit to be attached it must be within the HQ range (double click the HQ and it will show a grayed area around him, this is its range).
If you pararoop outside its range or behind enemy lines, or onto another land mass (eg from France to England), the unit can't connect with the HQ.

TL;TR: Units need to be in HQ range AND need a land connection to it through friendly hexes to be attached
