It sounds like you already found the answer, but here's a tip: when placing those 'sidewalk' icons (accessed with 'Shift-a') 'SHIFT-99' will give you a guide that you can place directly on the map.

Hey Gallo Rojo,

do you know how to work with Freds Map Editor? If yes, you can make the sidewalk graphics even looking better, by placing them on the ground layer! You probably notice when using the mentioned "a"-Key and SHIFT-! method, that building shadows are covered by the sidewalk graphics, thus making the buildings (and in particular the row houses) looking flat.
Reason is that "a"key/SHIFT-! puts all the graphics to a higher graphic layer (layer/section6), which is not really suited for putting sidewalk graphics into it.

Hey RockinHarry,

No, I never used the Freds Map Editor (although I did use the Scenario Editor) ...

Does the manual explains how to make sidewalks with it?
Another thing that I always wanted to do is "cut" a portion of a map and "paste" it in antother one ... I guess that you can do it with Chlanda editor ... but I have no Idea how ... I read Fred's Map Editor Manual, but I didn't understand.

best

hey Gallo Rojo,

yes..Freds Map Editor makes this copy pasting of map parts. Actually it´s quite simple. First you designate the upper left hex of your to be copied map part, then follow by the lower right hex. Then you either copy the map part to clipboard or to a file. When pasting the map part back into a (new) map then you only need to designate the upper left hex. If it does not work for the first time and the pasted map part looks messed, then try using slightly different map coordinates for pasting. Fred mentioned in his files to either use odd hex coordinates only for copy paste or even coordinates only.

Well...I recommend you "play" something with Freds Map Editor and try the various functions. If you get "Tile transfer" to work (it´s just choosing tiles and clicking the map) then you´re ready to place good looking sidewalk graphics. Let me know about your progress please!:)

I hadn't to much time to practice with Freds Editor ... but I will tell you about my progress (or distress ;)) as soon as I could.
Best.
