Stalingrad by Air: The Players

Adolph Hitler to Erich v.Mainstein after the loss of 6.Armee at Stalingrad:

"I alone bear the responsibility for Stalingrad! I could perhaps put some of the blame on Goering by saying that he gave me an incorrect picture of the Luftwaffe's potentialities. But he has been appointed by me as my successor, and as such I cannot charge him with responsibility for Stalingrad."

The Big Questions: The Luftwaffe failed to supply the 6.Armee and that's why the Stalingrad Pocket fell. What makes this assertion true? What makes it false? Is there another reason that explains the Axis disaster at Stalingrad?

Let's take a look at the key people involved, their motivations, and the results of their efforts.

Assertions of fact:

* Army Groups A, B and Don were supplied across one railroad bridge. (Manstein)
* 6.Armee and Luftflotte 4 were always short of supplies throughout the period represented by Case Blau.
* A large portion of 6.Armee horses were sent to the rear to over-winter.
* VIII Air Corps (supporting 6.Armee) had about 30 Ju-52 aircraft available on/about 19 November 1942.
* Tatsinskaia, Morozovsk, and Pitomnik were the three key airfields for the supply of Stalingrad by air.

And the deciders of Stalingrad by Air...Who were they? First up:

Speaking of Airlifts, here's a good vid on Tunisian Airlift:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBXUgQoWxfM

"...between Stalingrad and North Africa ... from Oct 1942 to June 1943, they (Luffwaffe Transport Gruppen) lost 1419 aircraft, their initial inventory of 1176 aircraft in Nov 1942 reduced to 777 on 20th May 1943"

The vid suggesting that the Transport had no power, its importants not recognised, promising officers kept away from it, and it were forced into suicidal missions...

The Players.

What did they know? When did they know it? Where were they when the key decisions were made? What else was going on in WWII when the decisions were made? What did they decide? When did they decide? What did they think of their decisions after the war?

Questions.
