My blunder makes me wonder

So I recently under estimated the Chinese. (it's just an AI game).
They over ran me at Nanchang and I lost 3 air groups. 1RC 1F 1MB
Are these groups lost forever? Or did some fly off to anther base? (I can find no evidence of this)
I can't even figure out which groups were lost without running a previous turn. (which I haven't)
Also is it possible they were captured?
Side note I am paying PP to move troops across the border.

Look in the 'air groups lost' area under the air losses screen in the info menu. You'll find them there if they were destroyed (which would happen if the base was taken while they were in the airfield). You can buy them back but there is a price in PP, usually larger the bigger the group was in terms of airframes. The pilots will also come back, which is very important if these were some of the 80+ EXP variety.

Ok I found the air groups lost but I don't see how to buy them back.

You found them where?
As a fragment somewhere or in the destroyed groups screen?
If they show up in the destroyed groups screen you may see a cost to reform.
Mouse over the group and you will get a fly out on how to reform.
You can buy them back, if they can be bought back, and you have the points.
