Last question before I decide to purchase this game. It looks so good.

Does it have a good, comprehensive in-game tutorial, or at least a tutorial in the manual that you can read and follow along with in-game?

Have you checked out the video tutorials that they posted today? I imagine these will be released every day up to release date. Not sure if there is an in-game tutorial.

There is an in game help section that defines the game.
There are the video tutorials
There are, well should be, a tool tip for just about everything.
There are message popups when you do something not allowed that tells you why.

For example subs and fleet can only stack in port. When you try to move a stack of subs and fleets a popup will appear telling you "you can't move suns and surface" so now you know.

You still need to read the rules to realize the full potential of things.

I have said this before and I’ll say it again:

The games mechanics are very easy and intuitive to learn but this game has a depth that still surprises me after many months of play testing. The strategic thinking aspect is the hard part which in my mind makes this game a classic.
