Questionable target selection logic?

In my latest test, with help from the deploy-anywhere bug/oversight, I deploy an M8 armoured car and a bog-standard Sherman behind a Pz IV and start the scenario.

The Pz IV quickly spots the AFVs (which I've ordered to fire on a nearby hedgerow to prevent them killing the German tank quickly) and turns ACW to engage. Bizarrely it always seems to decide to engage the M8 first despite this course of action requiring a more time-consuming turn (the Pz IV's gun muzzle sweeps past Sherman en-route to the Greyhound!) and being pretty silly from a survival perspective.

Here's the save illustrating the behaviour.

Having run perhaps 20 target selection tests I can now say with some confidence that the AI AFVs do select sensible targets most of the time when there's a choice.

Strangely the illogical choices only seem to occur when the threats are behind the AI unit. In the attached shot, the Sherman realises there are hostile units behind it, turns, then fires on the measly Panzer II after rotating its turret past the StuG. Most odd, but obviously a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks for the save game. We will take a look and see what might be going on.

Cheers
