Airstrikes on ground units

I just watched the 1943 video by the Wargamer Guy, playing as the Allies.

I have seen an Axis 26 strength armour reduced to 10 by Soviet airstrikes, and an Axis 8 strength mech unit in Sicily reduced to 2 by Allied airstrikes

This seems to be excessive damage, even though the losses may actually be applied to unit readiness, rather than to unit manpower and vehicles.

Have the calculations used to determine damage to ground units by airstrikes, been modified (reduced) for the release version?

This would appear to be a direct contradiction to what the rules infer and indeed what Alvaro has been writing on this forum....

I understood that too, Michael. We will all find out tomorrow!

Depending how old the video is there was an error in the formula which I corrected.

But technically if you use the entire Soviet airforce to hit one unit yea it will be turned to pulp on effectiveness. But that is a waste of air power since it has diminishing returns.

FWIW, some games limit the number of airstrikes possible on a per hex basis.
