It is in January 1940 and the save name is 10-11-1939 ?

It can be what you want. Just click the X to the right of the text field and save with a new name.
In the next patch the save textfield will be blank to make it obvious you need a name. This was taken from the Wargamer review who stated what games fills in a name for you?
