Uxbridge's reflections

I will start this thread to have somewhere to post reflections, ideas and general annoyance remarks as I go, not having to open new threads for each minor issue that one may stumble upon.

These are the first two:

1. It would be convenient if left clicking to open a unit panel could be followed by a right-click to open the details panel. Thus one doesn't have to move the mouse for this to happen.

2. Clicking once on a meny in the upper row opens that action category (prod., convoys etcetera). It would be nice if a second click would close it. That way you don't have to search the "X" or escape key.

Funny how personal preference go, escape is the natural close key.

Escape key should, of course, retain its normal function.

In fact, it would also be good if deactivating an active unit could be done by a second left-click on the unit itself, rather than somewhere in the surrounding area. On-off, on-off ...

Can't mix functions. 2nd clicks rotate the stack.

A thought occurred to me yesterday regarding oil. I love the oil part of the system, something often missing in other games. But I'm beginning to feel a certain concern regarding when this oil is spent. USSR late 1941, the oil supplies is falling steadily. I had three panzer units that should be moved to another sector, all of them being one hex away from a rail hex. Moving them to that single hex costed me 3 points. Theoretically, the three units could have spent 30 operation points (OP) between them for that cost, now they consumed the same for only three hexex moved. Had I at that point been out of oil, or the units out och connection to the supply net, they could have used 15 OP with no cost at all.

There's no way around this – if I want to enter the rail hex I have to pay for a full 14 days move.

May I suggest that either:

1. There's a way to shut the oil consumption off, letting the unit act as out of oil (clicking on the oil symbol to avoid necessity to change graphics).

or ...

2. The actual consumption of the oil point takes place as the unit enters its 4th or 5th OP (4th preferable), .

I would prefer the latter, but either solution would give the player a player's choice: fast or cheap. As it is now, you always pay full, and, apart from rail movement, there's no oil-saving way of playing.

You're list must be huge by now. Thanks for your devotion. This is probably the first game ever, that I actually think it is funny to figth in Russia.

Yes my list is quite long. Looking at it there are over 40 suggestions to consider for the future

Properly calculating oil on a fractional basis is; #op used divided by max #op times oil usage.
