Iraqi Oil Q

Playing as Axis, the UK defeated Iraq, I have since retaken Iraq (or at least I think I have as I have Baghdad and the port and control all the cities and the oil hexes). Do I automatically start receiving the 15 oil from Iraq again? I don't see it listed in the trade routes like I do for Romania.

Is there something else I need to do to get that oil?

Also, I couldn't help but notice there is a 40 oil sitting right next to me in Iran. Do I have to conquer Iran to get that or only seize the oil hex?

Think you need to use the convoy screen to set up a new convoy. I think, not sure. It may very well be the oil hexes are considered German controlled, in which case it should be part of your income number.

+1 for an answer to this one!!

If any part of the oil whose oversees it will use the convoy system you can hit the trade toggle to see where it is coming from if it's coming overseas. It also takes time to repair when you recapture it from the British

So Is seizure of the hex sufficient or must the country be conquered to get the oil.

Take the hexagon. You don't need the entire country. However there must be an uninterrupted logistical line from the oil hexagon to Berlin. So trains and/or naval port to port. I used trains. Partisans were a bit of a problem. I think the key to doing this is to get Turkey to join the Axis. Then (I think) part of the logistical system could go through Turkey without partisan problems. When I took the city of Baku and the #40 oil field the Turks did not join the Axis like I thought they were suppose too (this was with the original version of the game). But I will try again after the next patch.

I took the Baku oil fields, Iraq and Iran oil fields. The German Production panel had over 200 oil under economy at one point. [:D]

And the rail/convoy line to get it back yes.

Hmm... so I have the 3 Iraqi oil fields and the Iranian one right on the coast plus the rail lines to the ports and the ports. I have the Suez canal and can run ships through it. Shouldn't I be able to go either around Africa to France to Berlin or through the Suez through Greece or Italy to Berlin?

Right now I'm showing 70 oil production for Germany and no listing of oil from Iran or Iraq to Germany in the Convoy screen. I've had the Iraqi oil fields for 3 turns but the Iranian one only for 1.

I think it may take several turns to show up even with no other supply chain problems (scorched earth damage and partisan damage). I'm not sure how quick it can show up, with no other problems, since I had many problems on my overland route through southern USSR. Let us know what you discover. It will be interesting to know.

Send me the game if you like. Just PM me and let me know. I will take a look at it. But if I find it's your fault I am charging you a fee.

LOL, thanks for the offer but I'm sure you have a million other things to work on. I'll figure it out eventually and report back.

Hit the "T" for trades and see if you can follow the path. If it is by rail it won't show up because it can't be interdicted. It probably is damaged and repairing thus why you can't see the oil coming in.

Related to this I don't see the breakdown of how the oil production/stockpile is used. In my game I have 165 oil coming in to Britain (none blocked) with a production of 15 upkeep of 13 but stockpile showing 0 and will not grow even if not attacking. It would be nice to know how the oil is being used.

Impossible to know. It depends on which units you use. SSo if you fly 10 air twice it depends on which kind of air and how many points that turn

Seems to me that Britain doesn't get credit for any oil trade even if no activity. A couple months with 0 stockpiles despite max non hindered trade. I think it's a bug.

Just an update.

Finally got my oil. 15 for the Germans from Iraq and 30 for Italians from Iran as they actually took the port. Not sure what the delay was. Probably some partisan activity in various places.

But the bottom line is that it is definitely worth it for the Axis to secure Iraq and at least the one oil source in Iran. Added up, they are more oil than you get from Romania.
