I haven't spotted any form of shore bombardment from naval units in the game or manual.
Have I just missed it or is shore bombardment not part of the game?

It happens automatically when fleets are present during an amphibious landing.

From manual: Surface – Naval gunnery for surface combat or shore bombardment

I believe there are also some older post on the subject which can give you more details.
