Diplomacy info

Is there anywhere, Youtube or forum-thread, where the diplomacy part is explained more in detail than in the manual. I can only make out what one can do in the War panel, not really how.

Somewhere in 1939, I pressed "influence Sweden", not for any more reason than to check what would happen. But it never did, and it hasn't yet, even though I'm now well into 1941. All the fields are greyed out and I can't click anywhere. I really want more information about Diplomacy.

I forgot to put in popups. Which I believe I did in the Monday patch.

Diplomacy is there as an afterthought. WarPlan is meant to be played without it as a wargame where the scripts dictate how countries act. But some creative designer can include it in their scenario.

Influence just does that. Moves their status in your favor. Closer their status is to your alliance the easier it is.
Intimidate is a gigantic risk to move them in your favor by a coup or threat. Usually it backfires and they go to the other camp

That's about it. Diplomacy is the smallest part of the game.

Why was it setup this way?
Because diplomacy is a variable that is very hard to account for as it gives wild results. If Spain or Turkey join a side that throws the whole game out of balance for example.

Yes, this is apparent to me already, but do I only have one shot in the original scenario?
