UI geometry and fonts wrong

Hello,

just launched CMO for the first time. The UI looks quite strange/wrong.
The launcher is engulfed in a larger cyan box. In the game, the button labels do not fit the button widgets. The input boxes are misaligned. Even the exit dialog has its icon in the wrong place...

See the screenshot...

Is there any UI option I can try?
Windows 10, 1920x1080

(Reminds me of the CMANO vs. font size era :-( )

Thank you. I can get here, too.
Still, I would like to get rid of the blurry fonts... look at the font edges at your screenshot...
While the text medium is quite a big part of this game, a (big enough) sharp font is a must for me.

Unfortunately, the file PreferExternalManifest.reg mentioned in the thread is not included in a COM installation.
Probably rolling out the application again would also have been a very good time to make sure that you don't get eye cancer without a lot of bustle at resolutions beyond HD.

Greetings, Axel.

The PreferExternalManifest.reg file contains the following, though I'm not sure if its a fix for CMO (or, if it was, why it wasn't included). I can upload a copy of the reg file if needed.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide]
"PreferExternalManifest"=dword:00000001

Frankly I am shocked that this game has been rolled out in 2019 when it looks such a mess in 4K and there is no in game resolution control.

Different fonts render differently, so some bits of the interface take up large amounts of space, and various panels take up unnecessary space leaving a small crowded space to actually view the action.

FWIW, this is how it looks on my 4K monitor:

As you can see, everything is in place and there is no wierdness.

This is why we are asking for local-system details in such reports. Because we know the game has been designed to work well also on high-DPI systems. And we know that because we did that.

Hello Dimitris,

this does not help.

Can you post a screenshot with large and sharp (non-blurry (=non-resized)) fonts in 1080p, please?

What local-system details can I provide, that can help?

As stated above, I have Windows 10. With 1080p native resolution.
In Windows Settings, Display, Scale and layout, "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" is 125% set.

I have tried BOTH solutions from the mentioned link (I cannot repeat it in my post).

The problem is I end up with:
- either OK font (no resize), but wrong geometry (see picture in post #1)
- or OK geometry, but blurred (resized) fonts (see picture in post #3

Please advise or ask for a specific bit of information you need.
Thank you!

With me it is the font size and the lack of a possibility to adjust it in the game meaningfully. Especially the messagelog and the infopanel on the right side. That tires the eyes immensely.
Independently of that, the update did the game a lot of good and is gratefully welcomed.

@RoryAndersonWS: Thank you for posting the reg key and its content. I will give it a try.

Hope this Thread-jack is ok. Dimitris, appreciating that there is already commentary about the fonts and colours or text not being ideal, could I ask why you're not able to utilise the screen space on the menu border more efficiently ?

See pic below. My suggestion would be to make the quick action buttons a toggleable option so that vet's who use the F keys can hide it. I will likely never use those buttons. Or at least move them up to save on a centimeter or so of screen space ?

There is in fact a button specifically for showing/hiding the shortcut buttons. It's this one:

IIRC this is explained in the new manual....?

Why even glance at the manual?

Thanks Dimitris.

@thewood1, no offence mate, but if you spent as much time actually playing the game as you do trolling all the comments on the forums, I'd have a little more respect for your opinion. ;-)

I bet I play more than anyone on this board. If people spent just a few minutes actually looking at the documentation that's included in the game and save the devs some time, I might have a little more respect for those questions. I spend a significant amount of time in the manual and on these boards looking for answers to questions.

Your particular question could have been answered with a couple minutes in the manual. Again, why bother going to the extreme effort of updating the manual, posting FAQs, etc. when the expectation is that you'll just drop in and ask a question and the devs will take the time to answer it.
