plus key & zoom in/out touchpad no work

Alienware 15" laptop - everything fine but minus key works to zoom out screen, plus key does nothing. Using touchpad to zoom in/zoom out does not work either. Once I get zoomed out at any increment or for overall look I can't adjust back from there. DC:Barbarosa and all Vic's games use same to zoom in and out and works fine for me - first time had this little nit of a thing.
