Basic features of this NATO countes mod:
• Bigger shields on ground units.
• Round air units with types indicated by symbols.
• Flags as HQ shields.
• Nationality indicators on all counters.
• Plus some other stuff.

Installation instructions:
Simply drop the “units.png” file from the Dropbox link into the folder of the campaign you want to play. (The Excel file is primarily for me to keep track of what I’m doing.)
For example into: ..[user]\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\Europe 1939\..
The vanilla “units.png” file is located elsewhere. Modded “.png” files placed in campaign folders will be used instead.

• Added infantry shield “crosses” for all nations slot 2 & 3 units
• Airfields/unspotted air units are now round counters.

Sweet! I was looking at adding cross/roundels on the counters but was worried they'd conflict with the special ability indicators - nicely done how you've squeezed them in to the left.

I would also like to increase diversity & historical accuracy of air unit silhouettes for minor nations so any suggestions about that would be much appreciated!

I've found this site to be useful for getting silhouettes/drawings of all sorts of WW2 stuff:
War Drawings

It takes some copy-n-paste then extract from white background and resize. Blacken, whiten or whatever else to suit your desired end product needs to be. It's painstaking (as you surely know) but can be rewarding in the end.

(The author wants users to request permission - I've tried unsuccessfully to contact him, but will keep doing so. Also, our end product on these counters is so tiny, it may not be a true infringement.)

But I just noticed that I’d forgotten about a WP bug that picks the wrong US infantry counter…[:(]

I have tried putting the png file as described in the first post here but it doesn't seem to be working. I am using the Steam version of the game now, maybe that is the issue.

It should work for steam as the scenario directories are the same. But I will test it.

So if you want to use the files for Europe 1939 plop them in this folder.

C:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\Campaigns\Europe 1939

They might have been renamed to something else in the mod download. The game looks for specific file names for mod images.

Like one nato mod I grabbed to test had all the wrong names.

Ahh I think I figure it out.

I was putting the modded unit file in my game install directory, not the folder under my documents (didn't realize the folder existed with the Steam version installed). For some steam games mods go into the game install folder, but not so for WarPlan I see!

I got it to work by following directions, go figure.
