Plotting land unit course

Why's this happening? Plotted course to active point but unit first goes south?? There's no other land units in the scenario.

I believe this is because of the new pathcost calculation for ground units (ships are also concerned). For me it seems like the pathfinding in CMO is not always calculating the shortest path.
My suggestion to the devs: Please add some shortcut like SHIFt+F3 in order to send ground units on the direct path to their waypoint. Sometimes I do not want them to take the least costly path, if it leads them too close to dangerous enemies on the map.

The ground unit has a mission or unassigned?
If it has a patrol mission, the AI could have other priorities to reach before moving to the manual ref point

No missions. Just in case I unassigned it. Made no difference.

Didn't saw you post so i created mine

This issue is what's breaking the Raid on Kismayo, 2013 scenario. The spawned SUV never makes it to the end of it's route since for every waypoint it's calculating multiple other paths and never gets where it was going. Even if you remove all but the final waypoint it still paths all over creation first. :)

Have tried the latest 1115.7 released yesterday? The changelog says:

- FIXED: Car navigation bug on "Raid on Kismayo"

(among other changes).

No, pathcost calculation for ground units is broken. Imposible Ground Operations.

I haven't tried the scenario but I've gone into the editor and just tried to run land units around. Not only do they add weird long routes to a plotted course but the choices it's making is poor (sending heavy tanks up a steep incline for example).

So here is an M1 platoon following the trace of a freeway near my house. I plot it's course and fired up the simulation. No other units, friendly or otherwise, around and the unit suddenly shoots off into the hills. Makes no sense.

My example from a test scenario.

I also noticed that sometimes the land unit would come to a complete halt for ten minutes or so and then find a weird new course. I couldn’t figure that out either.

Same here, playing the Hungarian-Serbian Border Incident, 2017. Moving the ground units on plotted courses to the border makes for some interesting and useless tracks.

I have found an interesting behavior that might be a hint how to fix this bug:
When these strange paths are automatically created, you cannot select the automatically created waypoints on the map. However, you can select them in the F2-menu. First you need to select a normal selectable waypoint on the map, open the F2-menu and then switch to the automatically created waypoints using the arrows. Then you select a waypoint-type in the dropdown of the F2-menu and suddenly these waypoint become visible on the map as well and you can select them properly, which will allow you to delete them by pressing the delete key on your keyboard. After deleting them the ground units will follow a straight path again.
So this means that the automatically created waypoints are not updated properly in the game. We need some fixes here!

After deleting the waypoints, does the land unit stay on the original course or does it create new ones again? I'll try this idea soon (good idea BTW!).

When I tried this, new waypoints either did not appear any more or a single waypoint appeared after a few seconds, but that did only cause a very slight deviation from the original path. Even when the automatically path created before was very erratic, I could make the path very straight and the ground unit kept that straight path.

FWIW, I have seen the plotting behavior describe in this thread. It makes scenarios with ground units very difficult to play. As Tiramisu said, "we need a fix".

Is there any solution for that? I could not find any reply by any dev or any support....
