Whenever I try to start WITE or WITW I get a white screen and then an immediate crash back to the start screen again.
I have searched both the steam and matrix forums, and apparently not the only one. Any suggestions have not worked, run as admin, reinstall direct x, etc.
Suggestions from matrix have not solved the issue.
This problem exists exclusively with these two games. Everything else runs fine. Have tried with both the steam and direct download versions.
Any help appreciated.

So the game launcher work but nothing afterwards ?
Directly starting the game executable WarintheEast.exe or WarintheWest.exe has the same result ?

Get the Codec Tweak tool from

start it then 'Fixes' then 'Apply & Close' Does it show any error detection ?
Plese generate a dxdiag report file and attach it to this post. If you are on a 64Bit OS please ensure you run the 64Bit dxdiag.

the problem with windows 10 is that most items are there from older version, just not enabled, and some extra junk is, which needs to be disabled for some games, try my solutions,

Tried quite a few of these. Still crashes.
Nice tip though. I certainly do not want to record my games, want to forget most of them.

please generate and attach your dxdiag report file, it should be a text file saved to your desktop
These recorded crashes are from the 4.5 years old game version 1.08.04 - please verify you actually have the most recent update installed (check properties of game executable)

I did not bother to update this time around because I had tried that weeks ago, but I have now and still crashes.
I would be delighted to provide a new Dxdiag complete, but see no attach function.
The site says you can do it, but now how.

have you tried with your headset unplugged ?
You may try to update the intel chipset software

-> unpack and run the setup file, reboot afterwards

Tried both, and still crashes.
