As far as I remember the sliders were part of a beta update, but that update introduced new problems and was then pulled back entirely after a day or two (and replaced by a more conservative update). So I think it's not an oversight, but as planned.

I cannot get my tacview option to work. Can anyone explain it to me how to get this working?

That was part of the beta .9 update, and that update was pulled back, with too many issues.
