Partisan Nomenclature

I am sure I have asked this before...
Why are Partisans named #3 Partisan Bn ie the #. 3 or 4 units do not have the #
It has nothing to do with Ready Status as the CR report using filter of Ready returns units with the #.
And why is Partisan Fatigue always so high?

Mean while back at the ranch, or collective farm....
According to the manual Partisan units are Combat Active or Inactive, and the # denotes combat Inactive. This is determined by a combination of Morale, Supplies and Number of Partisans. (Doesn't say what combo)
Now in my game there are 48 partisan units and only 4 are Combat Active ie 44 have the #. I cannot fathom why a unit with Morale of 50, 483 partisans (92%TOE) and supply at 250% would not be set to active.
If you use the CR, Combat Ready/Unready filter you get 23/25 units respectively which seems much more realistic.
I smell redundant code...

Perhaps I should have labelled this thread 'An update by 3by2 Games'
Anyway in my current beta test game 22 partisan units have been created and only 1 doesn't have #.
I wouldn't hang my hat on this but this unit is the only one that has been created directly from a city ie Minsk.

Just an update for all those not interested.
I now have 63 partisan battalions, 22 combat ready and only 3 combat active (whatever that means). And last turn they did.....nothing.....

I have been looking at my partisans too and it is also a mystery to me. Would be interested to find out what exactly it takes for a partisan to at least die roll for a blown rail.

I have a WiTE memory of like the chance that a partisan unit will perform combat is only 10% and as I only have 4 combat active something should happen once every 3 turns or so

do you properly supply then with air-dropped supplies/men?

No I let the system do that using IL4s on night missions from Very Very Special Airbases
[:D]
For a while I manually supplied partisans so that every unit had supplies > 100% but I suspect all this did was alert my opponent to their possible location as he started to blunder into them, without suffering a casaulty...not one...

If you let the AI do it during logistics then it will not show your opponent where they were supplied. If you do it manually during your turn your opponent will indeed have a battle icon on their map when they open it showing exactly where the partisans were supplied - and by definition exactly where they are!!!!

Its not whether the AI does it but rather if the manual resupply is flown at night.
Any way the purpose of the manual resupply was to ensure that the partisans had optimum conditions (ie 100% supplies) for combat. I suspect I was supplying vodka...
