Any game is so much more fun for me if I do an AAR, so here this is.

It is so good to see so many prior opponents at play. Seeing your names brings me back to "Road to Victory" and "Time of (Wrath) Fury". Good days, good games.

I am enjoying Warplan, but want to put a plug in for "Global Domination 1938" which is a Mod for "Advanced Tactics Gold". With ATG on sale now is a great time to explore this excellent Mod. Claus Füssel (ernieschwitz) and Alexandre Fenelon (bombur) have done a wonderful job with this simulation game of WW2 on a global scale.

The UI for Warplan is a joy to use, and Alvaro gives credit to his wife. What a great team.

I have only played one partial game so this is a journal of a learning experience. Default settings. Standard map and counters. Version patched to V.3.

September 1st, 1939

Tensions have reached a breaking point and the French and British must stand up to the latest German outrage. The invasion of Poland will become a full scale European war.

September 15th, 1939

We want to give the Germans every opportunity to delay in Poland.

September 29th, 1939

The Soviets and Germans have not finished Poland yet.

October 13th, 1939

Lots of attrition in Poland.

as one of your former opponents from RtV, ToW, and ToF (since you mention it above) I just wanted to say hi and that I am glad to see an AAR from you again. Will follow it with interest.

I have been following the game between you and Gary. It reminds me a bit of the time Gary invaded Great Britain in RtV, and only the changing hex ownership alerted me.

I remember this AAR. He invaded on the north-east coast and the map was so large that it was easy to miss on the screen unless you scrolled up. But why would you look at this backwater when you are unsuspecting .... All readers could see it from Gary's AAR of course. Great game.

The Low Countries nervously wait for Spring.

Yeah, this AAR should be eye-opening, as cpdeyoung is notoriusly inventive in getting the most out of the possibilities presented by the game. There's so much right about Warplan, that it will be interesting to see if cpdeyoung can either validate the design or pick some holes in it.

Now, an AAR between cpdeyoung and chocolino would be doubly eye-opening. My memory fades, but I don't believe I ever won a game with either of them, although each game was interesting.

If only I forgot my defeats as easily as you forget your victories.

Your elimination of my two strongest Panzer Korps in "Sturm und Drang" (RtV 2009) has never left my gaming memory. The emotional hit when I saw the hole where once those panzers flourished is with me still! It is painful to think on it.

You are a wonderful player, very skilled and very much a sportsman. It is good to see you in action!
