At the beginning of the game you can buy airplanes by choosing the unit type. For example I can pick "strategic air group". Now you can pick some different advancements but if I choose "close support" or naval air training" the stats dont change? Is it because the techs are all the same at the beginning of the game?

And what is about "detection and electronic"? At the start of the game I was also wondering if you can do recon flights like in the Deceicive Campaign or WITE series. Does somebody have more experiences on that?

all the techs are the same at 1939, the advancements past that give small bonus's to the specialization each year.

detection and electronics is for anti sub warfare. and gives extremely long ranges to your bombers for open sea combat with subs.
