I would suggest creating an actual single beta patch file that has a version number. The way you are doing it with multiple files is very messy.
Advantages are simple. Accessible to more players. And much easier to make sure players are on the same version and can also report bugs and reference a version that the bug is in.
How are you going to be sure what version a player refers too? How do you know they even copied and pasted all the files? And when etc etc.
Same goes for players. How will they really know what the other guy has on his PC?
Please wrap up beta files in to one download that can be applied like a patch and has a version number.
