[Resolved] Premature "Mission Over" RTB

I'm probably doing something wrong, but I've had no success with strike missions targeting specific SAM sites -- this is running the Russian Civil War phase I scenario based on the Janes' F/A-18 Kola campaign. The mission flights take off, form up, then declare "mission over" and get into the carrier landing pattern, even though I've checked that the pre-assigned targets are still marked on the map as current. If I assign the same planes, with the same loadout, to a SEAD patrol they have no problem dropping their bombs on those same SAMs, so it doesn't seem like it's an inappropriate loadout issue...

Save file attached. Thanks in advance for any help diagnosing what's amiss here.

James

Hi James

I've found your problem, the Strike Peninsula SA-2 mission is set as an Air Intercept mission, it should be set to Land Strike.

Delete the mission and create a new one, this time use the drop down menu and change the "Type" from "Air Intercept" to "Land Strike".

You'll then see on the map a whole load of waypoints auto plotted for you, to take you from the carrier to the target, move these around to avoid flying through contested airspace.

Hi James

I've altered your save file and created a new mission for you, this time as a Land Strike, I've tested it and all the aircraft now take off from the carrier and follow the flight plan all the way to the SA-2s.

Unfortunately, forum restrictions for replies don't allow me to attach it here.

Are you on the official CMO Discord, I could DM it back to you ?

You should be able to PM him directly through the Matrix forum and attach a file.

Thanks for looking into this!

Thanks, Havoc! Well, don't I feel silly...at least I did start by saying I was probably doing something wrong. I was right about that, at least. [:)]

Thanks again for figuring it out, and good to know these strikes work as designed against SAM threats.

James
