My wargamer resolution

January, the time we talk of new year resolutions we want to keep, likely won't, likely won't even manage the first week
My main resolution has no relevance to wargaming. This is my wargamer relevant one.
PLAY THE DAMN GAMES !!
I'm going to try (which means probably fail miserably), to play one game with something at least 'looking' like dedication for each month this year. To clarify, each month I will pick a game, and use the month to play it as much as possible that month.
Not sure which game will be picked. But I'm hoping it will be my Unity of Command II.
My two safe choices will be Battle Academy and Steel Panthers Mega Campaign (likely the Lost Victories).
I have so many titles and I can't really say which will get picked. I own almost every WW2 title worth mention.
But I don't play them enough.
I'm hoping to build a great deal of models this winter though. So competition for my time will be fierce.

I guess that my resolution is "Move your a** and learn GG's War in the West!"
The problem is that WitE is really complex. Over the holidays We played a scenario of Beyond the Rhine by MMP (
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/163097/beyond-rhine) and it was actually easier than the PC game. So much for "computers will simplify our life!!!!111"

Same ! I love WitE, particularly the Grand Campaign and I never managed to learn WitW. But it's even not on my bucket list now. Simply speaking, I find the Western front far less interesting than the eastern one.
My resolution would rather be: "stay alive until WITE2 is released" ! [&o][&o][&o]

Not to derail Mrs Wargamer's thread, but with regards to WitW I too was like that, but I needed to learn WitW to continue with WitE2. So I watched the 4 included videos and surprisingly the Air War is not really that complex, once you learn that and how to Amph Assault and Para drop (again from the included videos) your off and running. I played Husky twice and then tried the 1943-45 Italian campaign (still playing it) as the Allies, I had to reboot it once cause I got stuffed at Salerno but its really not that hard, complex as I had thought.
...end of rant...

This was mine as well. Hoping to hold to it this year. Don't want to be a wargame collector and not enjoy the investment.

Yep, I would agree, Mrs Wargamer.
I need to stop playing Red Dead Redemption II and get back in to WITW or RTW 2.
I'm serious, sometimes I dream about those games and I think that is telling me to play those suckers.

+1 - when I was younger I couldn't afford the games I really wanted. Now I can afford them I don't really have the time to play them all.
It seems rather unfair.

I agree with @Mrs.Wargamer, need to stop watching them play them on Twitch and start playing my collection instead, got so many sitting on the hard drive.

The silver lining was that we (I was in your same situation) played the games we had "in and out". Today I sit at my gaming PC and I'm, literally, paralysed by the number of choices I have - all scratched but most of them not really fully enjoyed. And new games come out every month...

The issue may be that some of us are looking for the "holy grail" of wargames. The closest for me right now is Warplan, as I can jump in, design scenarios and play. I have also designed smaller meeting engagements for WitE and enjoyed that aspect of the game to some degree. Playing a larger scenario PvP is beyond my comprehension. [X(] But I highly respect the people that can do it.
So, I spend $4.59 for a $12 game on Steam that has the best UI (for a deep game) that I have ever seen. Even the in-game manual is awesome. Forget watching ridiculous videos. It's all right there with BIG screenshots and all. What kills me about this is the dev might be hurting (although I hope not). The Qaedon Wars - The Story Begins - you are amazing and I love you for it.

Good luck playing the games well enough. It becomes like chess trying to do all the right moves in the correct order.
