Hello, this appears to be the same problem as reported by Philabos a couple of months back, but no resolution is reported in that thread. This is a new installation, direct, not via steam. The launch screen comes up, then on 'play game' it tries to run v1.11.03 in a new blank window for about 4 seconds then closes with no message back to the launch screen. I have attached the dxdiag file with this post - which shows APPCRASH, but nothing I can interpret . Any suggestions?

I am running from a fresh install of W10, and still the same result.
There are a number of posts on steam with the same issue.
Keyboard language seemed to be the problem for some, but didn't help.
I have tried direct DL and Steam, same problem.
The two 2x3 games are the only ones my PC just can't run.
WITP AE runs with no issues.

Thanks, do you know if there's there any process ongoing to fix this? I can read the manual and make my own war-noises but its not the same.

Rename "video" and "sound" subfolders as "_video" and "_sound".

You can find these inside "Dat" subfolder.

Been down the path long ago, same result.
This is apparently a problem for a small minority, but neither Matrix nor 2x3 have been able to solve.

I have the same problem after upgrade my win10 to the newest versions, two computers have the same problem. it is a big pity as i often reload the save turns to reviw the games i have played, so I sincerely hope someone could help to fix the problem. It seems to me is caused by the Win10 upgraded to newest versions (mine is 1909 and 1903)
the game start as a blank white window before crush. My version is 1.08.04, they worked perfectly before I upgrade my Win10 to 1903 and 1909. so the problem may relate to 1903 uograde.

Mktours, you may be on to something.
My games worked fine in the past as well, so maybe a W10 change is the cause.
Problem is, if it impacted everyone, we would be seeing more than a few complaints.

May be related to older 2d/DirectDraw functions Microsoft abandoned or broke in new versions of Win10. Win10 is a mess in this regard, always expect something older to be broken in newer versions.
