1.05b testing. Let the games begin

During the AI turn, AI units show their type (infantry, armour, etc) and not the FOW markers that are seen during the player's turn.

Is this WAD ?

I remember someone reported this before.

Yup. I reported that in the last beta before the official patch. Not been fixed yet.

I ran out of time to fix that today
. I focused more on the subs and other bugs

Why is Germany amount of production destined for upkeep in 1939 scenario preset at 56 ? IIRC, this was introduced somewhere during beta testing, previously it was a round number. WAD ?

On a related note, is it WAD that this amount can be increased to 9999, - independently of the produced or stockpiled amount ?

Check your list of units some are under strength.

It is how much you want to set aside to repairs and upgrades

Concerning manpower

Playing against the AI at Historical, my game is now at december 1942. Barbarossa was succesful, the Soviet Union is all but finished.
Germany has never hit manpower below 90 percent during the game and is now at 99 percent.

Now, I am not a low odds Rambo. I usually attack only at 3:1 or better with the odd exception here and there. So mileage may vary according to play style.
But the difference after fixing the double dip MP bug is very significant. Manpower is no real concern anymore in my game. Production and the logistics cap are now the limiting factor.
I think this is a shame. Manpower could use some tweaking. Perhaps a somewhat less strong effect than before the double dip fix, but denitely stronger than it is now.

Again, this is versus the AI at historical and I do not recklessly waste my pixeltruppen. But it needs some work.
All IMHO of course.

What are the experiences of other players so far? Please chime in!

I have also achieved similar results in AI games, 2 now first test against historical, the 2nd test against elite AI. In the elite AI game before I broke russia pretty much and took over Baku, I was down to 80% manpower in summer 1943.

Yes its AI.

Currently running PBEM to test it out against human and a few others are as well. But honestly I doubt a difference is gonna be significant till late 43, when a humans gonna have everything being thrown at germany.

I am currently playing the AI, too soon to draw conclusions.

But...

IMHO, manpower shortage was not a real limiting factor in terms of WW2, with the exception of Germany in the last few months of the war. At least according to what I have read...

The real limitations during almost all of the war, for all the belligerents, were, apparently, logistics, industrial production and development, and oil and other raw materials...

I just noticed this:

The images in the build window for support units are all mixed up

See:

Image

EDIT: This is fine in Official 1.05, it is a bug from the b beta, I have both installs in different setups.

You are playing vs the A.I. and if manpower needs adjusting then it can be done.

Could we get rid of the annoying pop-up window saying "Start here for a quick guide to the game" when loading saved games ?

Huh I made a change there. I thought I fixed this because I caught it before Beta. I will fix this.

[:D]

Yes, of course.

What I mean is that on an ongoing game the popup itself is no longer needed. It should not appear at all.

It only appears after the 1st time.

If you notice your options are being reset it could be that the there is a permission issue.

Player data
C:\Users\"your user name"\Documents\My Games\WarPlan\playerData.dat

Back up this file - rename it to playerDataOLD.dat

Let the game create another one. Be sure you have your PBEM login before you do. You will have to reset the options for your liking. This has the flag of "first game" and after you "X" it when you load the 1st game it shouldnt come back.

I suspect this is a file write permission problem.

Did as you said. New playerData.dat file is created.
The popup keeps appearing.

Waplan has full access to the Documents folder

(PS: as you know now I am playing in my Mac Catalina. But I have the same behaviour with Windows 10)

This is no big deal and is not specific of the beta patch

Something is off because you are the 1st one to have this issue.

I have it too, pain in the butt.
If we went in and edited the game folder would that fix it for ever or just until the next patch ?
