Dear fellow gamers:

I need the links to the quality Excel spreadsheets, by Kull and others, that I have seen going through the first ten pages of Matrix forum posts. I am rejoining AE after a gap of four or five years.

I want to play two or three campaigns games as the Japanese vs Allied AI. As I was looking for the forum posts I was trying to gain a feeling of what I should do as a Japanese human player vs the Allied AI. I should have copied and saved the Internet address link to Kull’s work on 2nd turn Japanese move, 2nd turn Allied move, and the Excel spreadsheet on Japanese aircraft airframes and engines. The Excel spreadsheet on smaller Japanese naval and merchant ships, I think by JDSRAE, also looked great!

I NEED those Internet address links, and any other Excel links you think are great.

Thanks Bill! Gary - I would suggest you play a month or so as the Allies before tackling the Japanese for the first time. It will refresh your memory on how everything works. As Japan, the clock is your enemy from the very first day, and it's better to make the "learning mistakes" while playing the Allies. Good luck!

Edit: Be sure to look through davbaker's excellent FAQ thread. Chock full of insights and great links!

This quote from JWE in Mike Solli’s AAR sparked many hours of spreadsheeting on this topic!
Plus Damian’s primer which is still a key reference.

Hint – this was our conceptual thinking.

There’s 2 kinds of xAKs; fast/modern, slow/old, kinda subdivided among large, medium and small. ONLY “some” fast/moderns can get upgraded to real ‘AKs’. ONLY “some” fast/moderns can ‘convert’ to something worth a crap in the military sense.

Slow/old can go to tenders, etc, but in return for the military capability, they lose significant general capacity.

The idea is that you only got so many fast/moderns and everybody was scrambling and grabbing at those few ships. So the idea is to present the choice is those terms. You can convert the hot-shots and leave your remaining fleet to plod along, or not convert the hot-shots and limit your military capabilities.

We put as much thought into this as we did for production. And it’s just as flexible; or not, as you please. My hope is that hull protection and allocation becomes as important as a/c engine production.

Hope we haven’t been too Evil.
