In the PBEM game I am playing the German has placed Gun Batteries or whatever you call them on the coast and I can't even reduce them 1 factor. I have hit them with battleships, tactical and strategic bombers. Any ideas. Also I started up SC to see what their combat factors were and couldn't see them as a unit that could be produced by the Germans. Are they an upgrade of a fortification? Thanks.

Coastal Guns aren't purchased they are a DE. You can right click on any unit and look at its properties. They are also in the manual. Coastal Guns have a high AA factor, land units best.
