Too much storm damage to transports

Post by The Land »

I just had a storm turn in the Atlantic do 4 damage to a Corps and 2 damage to an HQ on transports. That is far, far too much to be historical. By the 20th century ship loss to storm was unusual and usually a sign of poor design or maintenance (unlikely for British troop transports).

I suggest making storms inflict morale damage on transports, but retain strength damage for non-long-range amphibious transports (where it is probably appropriate)

Another slightly random observation:

Is the Bulgarian AI supposed to invade Serbia?

I has a message saying Bulgaria mobilised, and it joined the Central Powers. Yet Bulgaria just sat there, despite having a wide open land border with Serbia and the chance to create a lot of hassle for the Serbs who are all deployed against the Austro-Hungarians. Is this intentional?

Is there any possibility that the transport received damage from a different source too in or around this turn?

Only the maximum damage a storm is set to do to a transport is 1 point of damage.

Unless of course we have a bug, in which case a saved turn, if possible, might be useful to help narrow down the cause.

Hello Bill
I too have had storm damage to transports doing way more than 1 point of damage... by Anzac corps suffered badly, as did another corps plus HQ - I think I commented on this in a previous thread (maybe around new year)

Very unlikely - both units had left the Channel ports the turn before at full strength, and made one cruise move to the Iberian coast, and received storm damage notifications. I remember seeing it. (Also the location would be a very strange one for the AI to be sending its ships.)

I will see if I have a relevant save, do you want the turn before or the turn after the damage?

I also had level 5 storm damage, also to the Anzac Corps, while on Naval Cruise from Plymouth to just off the coast of Lagos, Spain.

Sorry, didn't save the turn.

I believe in the next build a few more Bulgarian units will be freed to try and knock on the back door of Serbia. Initial release and updates had it playing a bit more conservatively to guard its positions instead of looking for a balance of opportunity and protection.

Sorry about this, I see the issue and will correct this for the next update as this is a coding error on my end.

Good to hear, thank you!
