Disagreement between combat report and save game file

PBMers please help me. I am in three PBMs and have a problem with one of them. I make a move as the american with a task force having an undamaged carrier. I recieve a combat report and the next turn from the Japaneese player. The combat report shows no attacks against my carrier. My CV launches normal strikes as expected. When the cursor is placed over the task force near the end of the round it shows all of the ships.
My oponent's email says he has ambushed my carrier, but this cant be comming from the combat report, because it shows normal air activity and no strike against me or sub attack. However, when I open the save game file my carrier is nearly sunk, my aircraft have diverted to land bases, and its in a two ship task force.
How did this happen without mention in the combat report?
Also, how did my opponent know it happened if its not in the report?

Small difference between this and posted threads on same subject

Subchaser, the thread suggested implies differences in the outcomes of a battle. This is a more significant difference....there was no battle at all in my combat report....I was not even attacked....yet my carrier begins the turn nearly sunk. Also unlike prior posts this is not a battle that went a way, but a battle that seems to have happened and was not reported!
Some have suggested there may be a bug or problem with the upgrades. I know my opponent is using a NO-CD version of 2.30. Could this be causing problems? (I assume there is not a "legal" no CD version of the game. I asked matrix about it but do not recall seing a reply.) Perhaps the editing that made the version a NO-CD version has introduced other small problems??
I have noticed another problem that I assumed was just careless keystrokes or mouse clicks but may be a simlar bug. Some of my aircraft seem to change their mission setting without my help!

This does sound different to the replay problems, in those the turn changes, but the combat report changes to follow it. No idea - do you still have the saves?
With planes changing orders, there are a few things that I find happen.
1. If you choose night ops for a sqaudron and press "all like planes follow this squadron" it doesn't duplicate it to the other sqds.
2. If you increase the CAP of a fighter/FB sqd to 100% it changes to LRCAP - if you then move the setting back a notch/notches it turns the fighter mission to "sweep" where maybe you want escort.
Is this what you see or some other sort of changes?

Joliverlay,
I don't like the sound of him having a no-cd copy....I only thought people who had downloaded from the internet had such versions????? If he does have such a pirate copy (might not even be 2.30 version trust me) don't expect any help...not your fault it is his. Matrix just can't support a game with a problem where one of the guys is playing with a pirated no-cd version which might have screwed up god knows what in the game. With these no-cd versions you can't upgrade either to the latest patch so I can't be sure you are playing with the same version.....
Cheers

Joliverlay, may be your opponent has two different UV installs, both with different patches. It looks like he has done this turn with another patch. Combat report shows you what happened (could happen) that turn with patch 2.30, while save file stores data generated with patch 2.20. If you have different patches applied this gonna be usual for your game. This is another way to cheat in pbem (my opponents, if you’re reading this, I NEVER use this), you always have 2-3 possible turn outcomes, choose the best for you and you one step closer to the victory.

<1. If you choose night ops for a sqaudron and press "all like planes follow this squadron" it doesn't duplicate it to the other sqds>
I may be wrong, but you have to set all other sqns to fly night ops manually and only than "all like planes follow this squadron" function will work out. Night and day ops differs by the set of possible missions, this function applies not to all sqns with the same a/c type, but to sqns with the same a/c flying day/night missions. Or you mean you already have all sqns set to fly night ops? If you have, it’s not a common bug, cause I have no such problems.

For the record, U2, I recently bought a program called GameDrive at my local Best Buy for $20.
It makes a COMPLETE CD copy of a game or program on your HD so you don't need to put in the CD each time you want to play.
You just start the GameDrive program and double click on the 'folder' that has your game, and then launch your program normaly. You can even apply patches.
Has saved me a LOT of grief since I have like 100+ games.
Perhaps that is what Subchaser ment when he said his friend had a 'no CD' copy.

Hi Soulblazer
I was not talking to Subchaser but to Joliverlay
That could very well be true but I need to know so first:) I remember exactly what he is describing from my old games (open turn, CV almost sunk, not on replay) and I have not seen this for a long time now. So I asumed a pirated copy without the latest patch which might have explained this problem. If it is not I'd like the saves for sure:)
Joliverlay,
When you find out what kind of copy your opponent has and if you have any saves left feel free to send them to
dpalb02@student.vxu.se so that I can have a look at them.
Cheers
