Shattered Unit

Post by battlevonwar »

This has happened to me when I am packing a narrow front a lot. 2 Hexes stop a retreat with friendlies. Manual states I get 90% of HP/Production back when a unit is shattered without a retreat path but I tested and the very next turn there is no apparent manpower or production gain. Is that gradual and if I have recently taken a hex is that a valid retreat path, supplied on my opponent's turn or only by the next turn where this rule wouldn't apply?

I am really curious about this rule... Especially when making deep armor thrusts(repeatedly lost units this way)

If you retreat in supply over your own units and have no 2 hex retreat then you get 90% back.

If you retreat out of supply and shatter each strength has a 10% chance to be added back to the pool. Represents troops escaping encirclement on their own.

So was your retreat in or out of supply?

In this case the hex taken was taken on my turn... So on my turn it would have no supply... Though the minute it goes to my enemy's turn am I in supply at that moment or the next turn of my own? If that is the case no.

I forget what the manuals state about when Supply is available start enemy turn in an occupied hex you just took or after...

lastly I ran a little test to see if production and manpower pumps back in from shattered units in full supply. It appears SLOW with production. Maybe 1 or 2 points per turn. With Manpower it appears faster is that roughly correct?

On the enemy turn all it does is trace to a supply source.

So if you are the Axis and blow up a Russian that on their turn would be in supply but they are surrounded 3 hexes deep by other russians it would be 90% PP and manpower.

If this same russian CAN'T trace a pathfind to a supply source on the Axis turn then it is 10% chance per strength to turn into manpower.

But I will check it out myself in the code to make sure it is right. I think this was a more recent addition.
